    James Julius Wilson, 69, of Murphy, passed away Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020, at his home.
    Mr. Wilson was born June 1, 1951, in Cherokee to the late Clarence Insman “Banjor” Wilson and Virginia “Daisy” Wilson.
    A member of the Baptist faith, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Greg Abernathy, and sister, Mary Ruth Abernathy.
    He was a lifelong resident of the area and Vietnam Veteran. He supported St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the Wounded Warrior Project.
    Survivors include his daughter, Katelyn Wilson; son, Kaleb Wilson; brother, David “Buddy” (Wanda) Wilson; sister, Elizabeth Irene Wilson (Wallace) Ledford; and several nieces and nephews.
    Services with the Rev. Ricky Wilson officiating was held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home.
    The family received friends from 5-6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16.
