    James Matthew Rowland, 49, entered into eternal life Sunday, Sept. 27, 2020, in Gainesville, Ga., after an unexpected illness.
    He was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County. James was self-employed. He loved fishing, hunting and camping.
    He was of the Baptist faith.
    He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, T. Mathie and Cynthia Lavusta Rowland; and maternal grandparents, Frances Rowland and James Garrett.
     James is survived by his wife, Donna, and daughter Cynthia Rowland; three grandchildren, Triston, Riley and Harley; his parents, Alvin and Carolyn Rowland; one sister, Donna Campbell; one brother, Jeffery Rowland; and many other relatives also survive.
    Family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Murphy. The Rev. Tommy Messer officiated. Interment was at New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery in Hiwassee Dam. Pallbearers were Jeff Rowland, Matthew Danielson, Josh Danielson, Dalton Danielson, Robert Pirkle and Joey Stancel.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the family for funeral expenses.
