    James Kenneth Rogers, 84, of Murphy, passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2021.
    He was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, and the son of the late Harley and Lola Welch Rogers.
    James enjoyed outside activities and working with wood. He was a member and deacon at Notla Baptist Church.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Charles Rogers; and one daughter, Brenda Hughes.
    He is survived by his wife, Murrial Rogers; one daughter, Vivian Johnson and husband Chris of Murphy; two brothers, Gary Welch and Bobby Welch, both of Marble; two grandchildren, Holly Ellington and Josh Hughes; and four great-grandchildren, Stella, Jovie, Mila Kate and Hoke Ellington.
    Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home. The Revs. Jerry Morrow and Hoyt Brown officiated. Burial was in Bellview Community Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jeff Roberson, Chris Johnson, Doug Radford, Bobby, Matt Ellington, James Johnson, Kenny Hughes and Brian Keasler.
    The family received friends from 2-3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home.
    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
