Evelyn Hope Gibson, 78, of Murphy, passed away Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022, in an Asheville hospital.
She was a native and lifetime resident of Murphy.
Hope worked in several of the local textile manufacturing factories. She also worked as a housekeeper and caretaker for several local families.
She was a loving mother and caregiver to her own family.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Hope loved animals, her cat, Socks, and even several raccoons and ‘possums that were nearly tame due to her love and care. She also loved going to Myrtle Beach with her family.
She was the daughter of the late Thomas Edward and Nora Leigh Fullwood Gibson. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Hessie Gibson and JoAnn Fullwood; a brother, Charles Fullwood; and a brother-in-law, Nathaniel Brooks.
Surviving are daughter, Tammy Gibson of Murphy; a granddaughter, McKenna Hope Houston of Murphy; a sister, Shirley Gibson Brooks of Murphy; a niece, Breeze Gibson Daniel and husband Craig of Murphy; a nephew, Bret Gibson of Murphy; and a special friend, Bob Penland.
No services are planned at this time.
