    Dillon Monroe Chastain, 91, of Heritage Hills Drive, Blairsville, Ga., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home on Saturday May 1, 2021, following an extended illness.
    Mr. Chastain was born on Feb. 8, 1930, in Murphy, the son of the late Marty Chastain and Ethel Miller Chastain.
    He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy of the Korean War. Dillon was a member of the VFW, American Legion and also the UAW.
    He enjoyed gardening, working in his shop and going to auctions. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather.
    He was preceded in death by two sons, Ivan and Adam Chastain; two brothers, Clinton and Edward Chastain; and a sister, Irene Buchanan.
    Mr. Chastain was of the Baptist faith.
   Surviving Mr. Chastain are his loving wife of 66 years, Mary McKinney Chastain of Blairsville; one son and daughter-in-law, Dwight and Cheryl Chastain of Tucson, Ariz.; one daughter and her fiance, Rebecca Harwood and Joe Cubberley of Blairsville; two sisters, Judy Williams of North Carolina, and Charlotte Webb of Murphy; five grandchildren, Rochelle, Wesley and Stephanie Chastain, and Derek and Kyle Harwood; and several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, from Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Hoyt Brown officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Wesley Chastain, Derek and Kyle Harwood, Jerry and Terry McKinney, and Joe Cubberley. Interment will follow in New Martins Creek Church Cemetery.
    Flowers are accepted or, if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Arbor Day Foundation in Mr. Chastain’s memory.
    The family met with friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, at the funeral home.
