Hillside Nursery recently installed 54 flower baskets in Andrews and 60 flower baskets in Murphy.

The baskets took several weeks of work from the nursery. However, workers say all the thanks go to the boards and organizations that planned for the beautiful floral arrangements.

“The beauty of this is to make the towns look good and we encourage people who want to thank us to thank the people who worked to create the baskets,” former Hillside Nursery owner Wendell Hedden said. “If you’re in town, go by town hall and thank them.”

Hillside Nursery was founded in 1974 by Wendell and Sara Hedden of Andrews. The business now belongs to their son, Jerry Hedden.

The baskets each took a week to two weeks to put together, then were placed in the greenhouse until mid-May, after the threat of frost had ended. Hedden said they began putting baskets together at the end of February to be ready in time for the spring arrangements.

If you are in either town, take the time to look at the different arrangements and appreciate the effort it took to get them where they are.
